About the Role:

We are a fast-growing deep tech hardware company of ~50 people, developing breakthrough solutions in thermoacoustics. Our R&D team plays a central role in exploring new technologies, testing feasibility, and transferring knowledge to the engineering team.

As R&D Manager, you will guide a team of 5-8 specialists (thermoacoustic and thermal engineers) and shape how R&D contributes to our success. This is a leadership role that combines people management, process improvement, and cross-team collaboration. 

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and grow the R&D team
• Take responsibility for people management, coaching, and personal development
• Hire new team members together with the Head of Technical Development
• Define team priorities and create an environment where researchers can excel
• Improve R&D processes, including developing a testing roadmap and documenting and addressing knowledge gaps
• Ensure smooth collaboration with Engineering and Testing teams by resolving inefficiencies
• Make sure the team utilizes external (academic and other) optimally for our development
• Play a key role in setting up scalable R&D structures for the future

What We’re Looking For:

• 10+ years experience leading a technical or R&D team
• Background in applied research or engineering, ideally in thermoacoustics or a related field
• Strong people skills: you enjoy coaching, mentoring, and growing talent
• Structured mindset with the ability to improve processes and ways of working
• Hands-on technical affinity: able to engage with engineers and researchers
• Strong communicator who can bridge R&D, Engineering, and Testing
